Science + Harry Potter = Tomorrowland? Count us in!
Which makes it sound SUPER cool!
The sci-fi/fantasy adventure, which is the brain child of director Brad Bird, who wrote the movie with Damon Lindelof, sounds like it's going to be one heck of a film!
Damon revealed why they believe the film captures a Harry Potter-like mysticism!
'What Hogwarts is to magic, Tomorrowland is to science: They are both easy to find if you are a wizard and very difficult to find if you're a Muggle. Walt Disney is not a character in our movie, but he is referenced as having some involvement in this mysterious place called Tomorrowland, as a huge futurist and aficionado of space travel, rocketry, cities of the future, and space travel.'
Oooh, sounds intriguing!
A mystical, mythical Harry Potter-like science adventure? We can dig it!
So, what's it all about?
The story follows Britt Robertson as Casey Newton, a Florida teen who is increasingly pessimistic about the world after watching NASA dismantle the launch pad at Cape Canaveral.
Then she finds a mysterious pin that gives her a glimpse of a mystical place called Tomorrowland.
'You would think the younger you are the easier it is to be an optimist, but you are being fed a steady diet of dystopia. It's closed for business. There are no launches anymore. But she still holds a candle, she still believes in this amazing future, that things can be better.
There is a piece of technology in this pin, it's the kind of old-school pin you would wear on your lapel, and when you make physical contact with it, you have the illusion of being physically transported to another world, and that's how Casey gets her first glimpse of Tomorrowland.
She is a Muggle who accidentally wanders across Platform 9 ¾ and sees something she probably shouldn't have.'
So, how does the Cloonster fit in?
Clooney plays once-boy-genius, now-grown Frank Walker who is hidden in his farmhouse when Casey stumbles across him. The pair then embark on a journey to uncover the secrets of the futuristic world!
Sounds pretty cool to us! What do YOU think? Will YOU go see Tomorrowland?
