The Mortal Instruments Franchise May Not Be Getting Another Movie, But They Will Be Getting A TV Show!

no title

Even though the first film bombed at the box office, it looks like the series isn't completely dead!

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which starred Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell-Bower, has found new life not as a film sequel, but as a television series!

Constantin Film, the ones who own the rights to the book series written by Cassandra Clare, have hired Ed Decter, who has worked on Helix, Unforgettable, In Plain Sight, and The Client List, as the showrunner!

How exciting!

Head of Constantin film and TV Martin Moszkowicz spoke out about how exciting the prospect of the show is. He said:

"It actually makes sense to do (the novels) as a TV series. There was so much from the book that we had to leave out of the Mortal Instruments film. In the series we'll be able to go deeper and explore this world in greater detail and depth."

There is no news regarding what channel will air the series, since the show hasn't been picked up by anyone yet.

Production hasn't even started, so not only do they have no idea where the show will air, but they haven't a clue who will star in it!

Guess we'll have to wait and see when more news gets released!

I'm sorry that no new movies will be made(at this time) if the TV show is a hit I"m sure we may see another. I think it is wonderful. I can not wait.

I hope Lily and Jamie keep their parts. After seeing the movie, I was hoping for another. I will be sure to watch the TV show version, but don't leave any kisses or smitten looks out. Or the Magnus/Alec combo from the books. :)

All I have to say is that a TV series is always bad, it completely RUINS the story. The casting is great and they should NOT change it. If they change the casting half their viewers I guarantee will not watch it, including me. And finally, they need to continue on the story line they are on, but smoothly connect to more details in the second, but they cannot remake the first movie because that would ruin a lot of people's views of the series. Also, if they want to add more details, make the books into two different movies, like Breaking Dawn in Twilight and Mockingjay in the Hunger Games. They turned out real well.

Holy, I would not have thought they would want to do a t.v. series. All I know is that I read the books and now I want to see more then the movie. And if they do end up making it into a series they better keep the cast because they were casted perfectly for their parts.

If they put more advertisement behind the second movie it would be a hit. I didn't even start reading the books until I watched the movie!!!!!!! If the show has the same actors and sticks the real story I would watch.

I agree. A series would be good because you could go more in depth. I would miss the movies though. The series WILL NOT WORK without your 2 main stars- Lily and Jamie. I don't think I could watch it if they were not in it. It would not be the same.

Another movie is a must! I loved the books but the movie city of bones leaves you waiting for part 2. If it would not have been competing with twilight… This movie would have done awesome. I think one more try would be nice… Please keep the cast too
