This Father Singing To His Dying Child Is So Sad And Yet So Beautiful

A man named Chris Picco has suffered a tremendous amount of loss recently.

His wife Ashley died at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital in California after giving birth to their son Lennon. She passed away after an emergency caesarean section delivery.

Lennon passed on shortly after as well.

Her husband, though, has done all he can to keep both of their memories alive, and it's clear he's succeed although nary a dry eye will be available after reading what this man wrote following the death of his lovely wife:

"It's impossible to sum up what as happened in the last couple of days. My wife, best friend and mother of my child passed away. I have a lifetime to grieve this unspeakable loss, but I know that right now she would want me to focus completely on baby Lennon James Picco, who survived by an emergency C-section."

And after the death of his son, Chris wrote on Wednesday:

"Dear friends, family, and supporters; it is with an unbelievably heavy heart that I write this. My little fighter, Lennon James Picco went to sleep in his daddy's arms late last night. He was surrounded by family, friends, and the best doctors, nurses and hospital staff in the world. He was dressed in an outfit that Ashley bought for him, with little guitars on it, and wrapped in a blanket made by a dear friend. I am so thankful for the four unforgettable days I got to spend with him. His mommy would have been so beyond joy to see him and to hold him, touch him, bathe him, sing to him - as I have had the privilege of doing. I have been so blessed and honored to love him before he was formed, to cherish him while mommy carried him, meet him face to precious face, and hold his perfect little body while we said "goodbye for now". There are no words, but I wanted to keep you updated, as your love and support has meant more than anything in the world. All you need is love."

A memorial fund has been set up in his wife's honor which you can check out here and for the mother and son here.

But the most touching piece of evidence of Chris's love comes from a video that was taken of Chris singing to his ailing son the song Blackbird, and the scene definitely left us in tears. The video's description also revealed why Chris chose music to offer his dying son. It read:

"Chris Picco singing Blackbird to his son, Lennon James Picco, who was delivered by emergency C-section at 24 weeks when Chris' wife Ashley unexpectedly and tragically passed away in her sleep. Lennon's lack of movement and brain activity was a constant concern for the doctors and nurses at Loma Linda University Hospital, where he received the absolute best care available. During the pregnancy, Ashley would often feel Lennon moving to music so Chris asked if he could bring his guitar into the NICU and play for Lennon, which he did for several hours during the last days of Lennon's precious life. One day after filming this, Lennon went to sleep in his daddy's arms."

We can't imagine what Chris is going through, but it's clear he's one special human being and we offer our sincerest condolences to him during this painful time in his life after losing two of his closest family members.

Check out the video of Chris singing (below).

I saw this today and cried buckets of tears; for the mom, for the baby and for the dad. For him to be able to sing through his sorrow to his dying child must have taken everything the man had. I, too, will be donating. This story has touched so many lives.

Who filmed this performance? Why? Why was it posted? Whose idea was it and why was it approved? Why does he need money more than say, people whose tragedies are not viral? Why isnt anything private? Why is this horrible occurrence entertainment - because at the end of the day thats what it is. What does this guy do for a living? Oh he's a musician.

Re: Ummwaitasec – I feel truly sorry for you and would hate to walk around with your head and your heart. What a dark, twisted path that would be.

What a devastating experience. It's important for us to share their sorrow. By sharing and caring, we dissipate the sadness and help lift the suffocating grief from the victims. I sincerely believe we make a difference by providing them with a spiritual life raft of prayer and white light until they regain their footing. Prayer does make a difference. Blessings to the family. May "perpetual light shine upon" the mother and her infant. ❤️
