Charlie Hunnam's Bare Butt Doesn't #BreakTheInternet, But It Sure Ticks Off One Group!

Kim Kardashian wasn't the only celebrity whose backside created backlash last week!

The FX drama Sons of Anarchy came under fire from the Parent Television Council for a mature audience-only montage featuring the cast in numerous graphic sexual scenes.

The group took particular offense to star Charlie Hunnam's bare butt.

In a statement released Monday, PTC president Tim Winter wrote:

"It's official: In order to watch cable news, ESPN, Disney or the History Channel, every family in America must now also pay for pornography on FX."

But his complaint didn't end there. He added:

"Last week's episode of Sons of Anarchy opened with the most sexually explicit content we've ever seen on basic cable, content normally found on premium subscription networks like HBO or Showtime … If FX wants to be like HBO and air this kind of explicit content, then they should become a premium network … Families should not be forced to underwrite pornography. Cable Choice is a solution whose time has come, and there could hardly be a better example of it than this."

Neither FX or SOA creator Kurt Sutter responded to the complaint.

SOA airs at 10pm, which the FCC considers a "safe harbor" period and networks can air indecent content. The show also carried a mature audience and TV-MA advisory.

Of course, we're not complaining. Bring on the bare butts!

Families are not being forced into anything. There are ratings posted at the beginning of every show and anything graphic carries more warnings when returning from commercial breaks. This is a whole lot more than i can say most of those kids see on the internet at any given hour of time. If you don't like it, don't watch it - it is that simple. If you don't want your kids watching the channel, change it, or block it out or maybe not have them watching unsupervised television at 10pm at night.

The butt I loved seeing was the guy sleeping with Elsa on American Horror Story, he may be a 'freak' but he has a gorgeous face and an outstanding ass!

  3. 3

It's official: I order to watch pornography on FX, I have to pay for the Christian Broadcasting Network!

You ain't into it? Me either! Fight the FCC for ala carte cable/satellite where you can pay for just the channels YOU want. Something that the religious right have fought against for decades so we can keep paying for all their televangilists!

  4. Charlie says – reply to this

So you're going to whine about sons of anarchy and the bare asses that are shown? There are warnings before the show even starts. No one is forcing you to watch. So zip it and change the channel to something more your level. Maybe toopy and binoo perhaps?

  5. trippyhippy says – reply to this

I will beat anyone who tries to stop me from seeing Jax's ass as much a possible.

  6. wozie says – reply to this

It's always posted what kind of content is on the show. Pay attention to what your kids are watching. Don't rely on TV to be your babysitter

  7. Pissed says – reply to this

IF YOU ARE A PARENT THAT LETS YOUR KIDS WATCH THIS YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. If you are an adult, act like it, change the fucking channel and get over it.
It was also not Just Charlie Hunnam's butt, there were alot of butt's , it was glorious.
Trippy, Thank you. Your smile gave me hope

While SOA appears in most areas late night, on the west coast it does appears as early as 7 pm. But like Pink Mafia says there are warnings galore. It's the parents' responsibility to monitor what their kids watch. What you don't like, I may like and why should you censor what I watch when I'm an adult. These groups wants everybody to watch cartoons because they're too lazy to monitor their kids.

What he was showing was far less than the bimbo Kardashian was showing and I haven't heard of Paper receiving complaints yet.

  9. Pissed says – reply to this

Your comment, not your smile lol. I was thinking your comment made me smile, but typed gave me hope. Either way it works, but I haven't seen your smile, and that would be creepy.

Considering the entire story line of the show, a couple of sex scenes are nothing.

Re: meccano – The story of your life sounds so sad my pal…

  12. 12

Kids shouldn't watch this show. Parental guidance on your computers and hope your kids don't see trash like Kim K.

  13. MichJB says – reply to this

I don't watch fake bikers on TV - I am surprised that they think a club would let a woman get the club colors tattooed on her back. She's not a patch holder and doesn't rate - she's property.

  14. 14

Oh my god, people are so fucking childish. It's a TV about a motorcycle club. It isn't exactly child oriented. Go bitch about something real, like maybe Kardashians photoshopped ass magazine cover

  15. 15

As a parent it is absolutely shameful how lazy parents are. If you don't want your kids watching that, how about do some actual parenting and turn the fucking tv off? Apparently it's a hard to grasp concept.

  16. 16

I know its my 3rd time commenting on this but it just leaves me in awe at how much parents expect the world to cater to them.

  17. Nicky says – reply to this

PTC's parenting is so stupid their children should be taken away from them. Here's why:
    1. Explicit sex scenes of the same nature of last week's episode were aired on Sons since season 1. This is season 7. 7!!!
    2. On the same episode, Jax took out a man's eye and cut off his firngers before he killed him. And the sex bothers you? Your kids will probably have sex one day (I'm not saying they should watch sex scenes on TV), but would you like them to mutilate people?
    3. You let your kids watch SoA?! So irresponsible!

  18. Michael says – reply to this

@ PTC president Tim Winter, I just watched Peter Griffin shove scissors up his nostrils to get out of a meeting, shall we get rid of that channel as well? Oh that's right, it is ADULT programming, if you are letting your kids watch then it is your bad parenting. You are just another person trying to force rules to make your parenting job easier that is it.

  19. Jodi says – reply to this

obviously these parents don't remember nip/tuck being aired on FX it was waaayyyy more explicit. SOA is tame compared to that show. Also don't watch it and don't let your kids watch it be responsible for your kids and don't pass the blame.

  20. 20

    Where's Ian Somerhalder's??????

  21. 21

before I looked at the draft saying $8467 , I did not believe that…my… brother had been truley bringing home money part time at there computar. . there aunt haz done this for only about a year and just now took care of the morgage on their house and got a great Lancia Straton . look these up >>>>>> jobsblade.COM

  22. Jordan says – reply to this

Because Sons Of Anarchy seems like family viewing and they have always been such a family friendly show. I watch it with my 7 year old daughter every week!

  23. JT says – reply to this

Typical Christian Taliban. Rather than taking responsibility for what they are watching, they want to impose their values on everyone else.

  24. Jessica says – reply to this

Who lets their kids stay up until 10PM to watch sons of anarchy? That's some bad parenting right there. Oh I forgot. Parents aren't responsible for what their kids do. Silly me.

  25. lisa says – reply to this

the scenes were not any worse than other shows on regular cable. Nip Tuck was on for years and showed just as much if not more. I see nothing wrong with it. That is why it is on after 10:pm

  26. Gina says – reply to this

Re: wozie – I love you! And Jax's ass! Seriously though what in the hell are small children doing watching a show called Sons of Anarchy at 10pm anyway? Shouldn't they be in bed because it's a school night? Besides I pay for tons of channels that have stuff on that I consider crap. You don't see me raising hell about it.

  27. 27

Sometimes it’s better for you to eliminate from the web a scandal, an embarrassing past, a
comment, an article, a picture or a video .

  28. P.Pfeiffer says – reply to this

Mr. Winter shouldn't let his daughter stay up till 10:00 pm and watch FX then. Problem solved.

  29. 29

Well Mr. Winter, don't let your daughter stay up until 10:00 pm and watch this show. For that matter, what were you and your wife watching for? It seems to me that you could have been watching Bennie Hinn "save" another soul or something to that effect!

  30. Mr.Tim says – reply to this

I wonder how the Parent Television Council would react if they knew Charlie Hunnam first showed his bum on Broadcast Television in the UK. He portrayed a gay 16 year old having sex with an older man in the original "Queer As Folk"

  31. elained says – reply to this

Re: MichJB – Look closer… that's the guy on top, not the woman… Jax is wearing the club's colors, and it's HIS butt in the pic, LOL!!

  32. ms trudy says – reply to this

no one is tying these people in a chair and putting tooth picks on their eyes to force them open while they watch these shows. if they don't like it there are hundreds of other channels to view. surely they can a find a few to their liking. bunch of friggin puritans.

  33. Spirit says – reply to this

I'm sure Tim Winter is complaining about pornography on the show is jealous because he's not anywhere near as hot as Charlie. His wife is probably masturbating to the thought of Charlie while in the shower, and I put money that Tim's idea of a virgin is an ugly 8 yr old if you know what I mean. . .

  34. MeToo says – reply to this

SOA is Dukes of Hazzard with porn. What's his name's ass is the only reason it is popular.

  35. Zachary Connors says – reply to this

How come, in the rest of the world a bare ass is completely fine, but in America, every prude comes out of the woodwork to bitch about it. I can guarantee this guy is not getting laid whatsoever. The censorship rules need to change dramatically.

  36. leigh says – reply to this

Someone watching a profoundly violent show like "Sons" which has characters in the porn industry is complaining about explicit sex? Enough said.

  37. blake says – reply to this

SOA is a show for mature audiences and comes on when kids should be in bed so this should not be an issue. God it's only a butt.

Last week American Horror Story showed a guy's butt but thankfully nothing was said about that.

  38. Sweetkiwis says – reply to this

Please…Mr. Winter…I guess you've never seen Oxygens Bad Girls Club…or girls booty is acceptable….I cannot watch a show anymore without seeing a women's ass or two gay men goin at it in a public bathroom…(How to Get Away with Murder) so unless you jus do not want to see men's asses…you should be mad at ALL shows on basic cable for some form of naked ass on the screen… Knock it Off!

  39. fatalreview says – reply to this

uhhh I think the subject matter on SOA means no kids ! bare flesh and sex is nothing compared to the murder and illegal activities that are shown

  40. daniel kinney says – reply to this

I am so sick of seeing only the women getting to show off their stuff. Let the Guys show of their Junk & their Trunk. Who cares.

  41. Cindy says – reply to this

Didn't break the internet, but it almost broke me. Hunnam can bare his anything, anytime as far as I'm concerned. He does some of the hottest fake sex scenes ever. What an awesome ass on a very gorgeous man!

  42. 42

This is a show with never ending violence and killing..Are they really that dumb?

  43. RT says – reply to this

What's the old saying, "I'm not gay, but I wouldn't kick THAT out of bed. Yumpin' humpin'…

So you let you children watch SOA WTF is wrong with those Parents? Its not like its airing at 7am on PBS.

Some parents just think its ok for Children to watch what they watch but its not ok. Theres a time for Childrens shows and a time for Mommies and Daddies to watch tv. Some people need to have there foreheads slapped and get a reality check!

  48. Michael Copps says – reply to this

The “safe harbor” you reference does not apply to cable networks, only broadcast nets. In fact, the FCC has no regulatory control over content on cable TV. Indecency laws do not apply to cable television, much like they do not apply to satellite radio, newspapers or the internet.

The reasoning is simple: the cable networks do not utilize “public” spectrum. They are not available “over the air” direct to viewers. Instead, they use uplink equipment to beam their signal to cable “head-ends” or satellite distribution centers. It is the very nature of paying for cable television that removes regulatory control from the FCC.

Now, most of the popular cable networks still maintain some level of “standards and practices” (though one could reason that S&P at FX is much more than that of, say, HGTV), but only because they are trying to attract a mass audience (read: eyeballs) to their network. Most networks-as-profit centers know that showing pr0n in primetime is probably not going to get the most qualified audience.

However, FX as one in a stable of Fox-backed niche networks - how many FXXX and FXXXXX’s are we up to now? - probably isn’t so concerned about a “mass audience, with it’s very existence being subsidized by the much larger Fox TV Network, Fox News, and Murdoch, Inc, so it feels more open to concentrate on higher quality drama and envelope-pushing material.
