Barbie's New Book Gets SLAMMED By Parents Who Say It's Sexist! Find Out Why HERE!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooWacky, Tacky & TrueBarbieStuff 4 KidzViral: News

Barbie is once again stirring up controversy, but this time it's because of a book!

At this point, we're not too surprised when we hear about a new Barbie toy rubbing parents the wrong way!

But when we heard her new book about her quest to become a computer engineer was stirring up controversy, we were a bit caught off guard!

At first glance, Barbie: I Can Be a Computer Engineer seems like a harmless story of Barbie exploring the world of computer engineering! In fact, it's downright empowering when you think about it!

The only issue is Barbie comes across a few obstacles along the way, and she's only able to fix them with a little help from her MALE friends!

Filmmaker Robin Hauser Reynolds was one of many people to point out the blatant sexism in the book, saying:

"I think they're trying to fit in with current issues by talking about computer science programing and yet, what they're doing is they're reaffirming a stereotype that a girl can't do it on her own. And it's wrong."

Preach, Robin!

While it's great to see Barbie dabble in computer science, it would be MUCH better if she would have been able to do it on her own! Especially when you consider computer engineering is a VERY male dominated field!

Let's let Barbie be a little more independent for once, shall we?

Do they want to teach girls that they should never ask anyone for help? If they can't do it alone, are they a failure?
Everything is seen as sexist now!
