Sports Illustrated Kids Names Little League Pitcher Mo'ne Davis Sports Kid Of The Year And Gets A Shout Out From Michelle Obama!

| Filed under: ZportzInspirationMichelle ObamaBaseballSports Illustrated

Mo'ne Davis is Sports Illustrated Kids' Sports Kid of the Year!

Well this kind of seems like a no-brainer to us!

Little League pitching phenom Mo'ne Davis was just named Sports Kid of the Year by Sports Illustrated Kids, and we're guessing it was a pretty easy decision!

The 13-year-old caught the country's attention earlier this year when she led her team to a third place finish at the Little League World Series and became the first girl EVER to throw a shutout in the tournament!

The exciting news comes just months after Mo'ne became the first little leaguer to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, and she's gained some pretty high profile fans this year, like Michelle Obama!

In fact, FLOTUS even took the time to congratulate Mo'ne, tweeting out:

We couldn't have said it better ourselves!

To say Mo'ne Davis had a big year would be a HUGE understatement, and we have a feeling this wont be the last time we hear her name!

Congrats, girl!

Thank you Parez! We need so much more in the way of positive female role models. Women are mothers, sisters, daughters, teachers, nurses, athletes, ministers, principals, caregivers for seniors and special needs children, judges, midwives, doctors without borders, advocates for poverty and abuse victims, foster mothers…and so much more…no more dehumanization of girls/women!!!

No'Me davis had an unfair advantage. Girls mature 3 to 5 years sooner than boys.If she had been competing aganist girls her record wouldn't have been so good. All this attention is an example of sexism. If talen put her on the cover of sports Illustrated how come the several boys who pitched shut out in Little League championship play were never on the cover of any magazine.
