We're so ready!
Ready to watch Allison Williams and Christopher Walken tear things up this Thursday night for NBC's Peter Pan Live!
However, after last year's luke-warm reception of The Sound Of Music, many in this cast are expecting similar results — but they're not worried!
And you know who sounds the coolest of them all? Ms. Williams!
The Girls star recently talked about why she thinks so many folks seem waiting to watch this special just to criticize it, but she makes a good point! If you watch this with hate in your heart, you're probably going to fulfill that wish for this show to be awful!
"They have some relationship to it, and they're protective of Peter Pan. People will hear the opening strings of music that they know deep, deep in their heart, and it'll make them nostalgic and they'll become a kid again, and they'll crumble. And they might get one hate tweet out, and then we won't hear from them for a while because they'll have reluctantly been sucked into the sense memory that will hopefully be Peter Pan. If you do [watch it cynically], you're going to hate it, there's no question. It falls apart instantly. There's a three-dimensional shadow! Where do you even begin?!"
Aww! She's so right!
We were definitely a bit concerned when we first saw inklings of what this show was going to be, but this NBC special has three special things going for it: Peter Pan is plainly awesome. So is Christopher Walken. And Allison Williams seems like she's ready to take on the challenge.
Not tuning in isn't really an option!
However, like Peter Pan Live! actor Christian Borle said, don't be surprised if more than one person knocks tonight's show.
"Last year, we all wanted the Sound of Music to be the best thing ever! And it was, good. There were definitely a lot of reactions to it, and we were all hyperconscious of it. Twittergate 2013. I don't mind going on record saying: I was kind of mesmerized by the actors in our community who were so snarky about Sound of Music on Twitter. I just thought, 'Don't you ever want to work for NBC? They're all reading this shit!' It's unbelievable to me."
Welp, we'll just have to see how things go tonight to know whether or not last year's backlash was just a fluke!
Will U be watching???
