And he's just getting started!
Get the rundown (below):
We're sure Netflix would like a re-do on this marketing attempt!
Yesterday, the streaming giant issued out a message on social media for their show Peaky Blinders that seemed to try and take advantage of current events that were unfolding at that exact time!
Here's what they wrote on Twitter:
"Just because you're law enforcement doesn't mean you're law abiding. #PeakyBlinders"
That tweet was sent out just as the protests in New York started heating up for Eric Garner after the NYPD officer who killed him was not indicted by a Staten Island grand jury.
After that, many Twitter users expressed their discontent with the timing of the tweets.
Here's what Soylent Alan wrote:
".@netflix EXCELLENT marketing. Synergizing with today's horrific news about failure of justice system to indict murdering police. BRILLIANT"
And one user named Katie Carman-Lehach wrote:
"Shame on you @netflix! Are you really using the #FergusonDecision and #EricGarner's death to promote your show!? WTF!"
Folks over at Netflix are doing damage control by claiming they weren't trying to piggyback any news, but rather the timing of the tweet was only a coincidence.
Which could be true, but that's a pretty BIG coincidence!
We're pretty sure whoever has that job at Netflix will be double checking the timing of their tweets next time though!
