Back in the 1990s, Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon created a comic book series called Preacher.
The series is very graphic and very dirty, and many fans of the cult series feared they'd never see their favorite comic reach the screen.
Well, thanks to a couple of Canadians stoners — they WILL be seeing it made in their lifetime!
A drama adaptation is being developed by This Is the End writers/directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and the pilot has been picked up by AMC!
Here's what Seth and Evan recently said:
"Preacher has been our favorite comic since it first came out. Garth Ennis is one of our idols and it's an incredible honor to be working on this. We promise we won't make too many dick jokes and ruin it."
And here's what AMC's EVP of original programming Joel Stillerman said:
"Every once in a while you find a project where all the elements line up beautifully. With Preacher, it starts with a bold, compelling, and thought-provoking comic book series from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and a whole lot of fans who already know Jesse Custer, Cassidy, and Tulip. Add to that the passionate and talented Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin, an incredible producing team in Neal Moritz, the Original Film team and our good friends at Sony Pictures Television, and we have everything we need to be VERY excited to move forward on Preacher."
We know we're excited to see how they make this happen!
It's not like they have the pressure of knowing a million fans will be watching their every move to making sure they don't mess up or anything!
But hey they struck gold with The Walking Dead, so who is to say it can't happen twice with another controversial graphic novel series!!!
