Azealia Banks Engages In ANOTHER Racially Charged Rant Against Iggy Azalea– Find Out How Iggy Responded HERE!

| Filed under: Celebrity FeudsPolitikIggy AzaleaAzealia Banks

no title

Azealia Banks is at it again.

On Thursday, the rapper stopped by Hot 97 to rant discuss her issues with Iggy Azalea, who she often refers to as the offensive "Igloo Australia".

[ Video: Azealia Needs To Apologize To Black Americans! ]

In the interview, Banks expresses her unfounded belief that the Black Window singer is popular because she's caucasian, not because she's talented.

Obviously, the relationship between race and music is a MAJOR point of contention for the 23-year-old and at one point during the discussion she breaks down in tears.

The explosive rapper ranted:

"I feel like in this country, whenever it comes to our things, like black issues or black politics or black music or whatever, there's always this undercurrent of kinda like a 'f*ck you.' There's always a "f*ck y'all niggas. Y'all don't really own sh*t. Y'all don't have sh*t. That Macklemore album wasn't better than the Drake record. That Iggy Azalea sh*t isn't better than any f*cking black girl that's rapping today…the Grammys are supposed to be accolades of artistic excellence. Iggy Azalea is not excellent."

Hmm, we have a feeling Azalea's millions of fans would disagree!!

The 212 singer added:

"When they give these Grammys out, all it says to white kids is: oh yeah you're great, you're amazing, you can do whatever you put your mind to. And it says to black kids: you don't have sh*t. You don't own sh*t, not even the sh*t you created for yourself, and it makes me upset."

Well, that's an uhm, interesting theory…

Considering the volatile nature of the interview, Iggy took to Twitter to defend herself, saying:

We think Iggy definitely has a point!

The singer continued:

Wow. This celeb feud gets more intense by the minute!

Check out Azealia's tirade in full (below)!

So, what do YOU think of Banks' interview?

    What an idiot…
For as much as black people want to be accepted…
And they ARE, mind you, how stupid do you sound when you try to put someone down for being a white rapper? Your fucking stupid azalea

  2. john says – reply to this

    Ignorant misplaced anger. Sad.

  3. Guto says – reply to this

Poor idiot! She accusing everyone to be racist, and she is racist herself not only that also ignorant, arrogant and negative. She can't get that she is not talented. Like her there are a lot of black people blaming everyone for their misfortunes when instead to do somthing about it, get focus, fight for their dreams not they just blaming everyone love to be negative and aggressive with everyone who is happy around them. So sad.

  4. kody says – reply to this

Shes a little cray but hers, nickis, fuck, even trinas music is better than iggy

  5. 5

Azealia is probably just used to hearing "f$ck you" because she's so rude! She's desperate - remember when she had perfectly lit nude photos "leaked" right when her album was dropping.. but no one care because she look crazy ugly naked. It totally backfired. She'll do anything to get onto these gossip sites so DONT INDUGLE HER!! Please…. she's an awful artist and boring perso

  6. Tori says – reply to this

This little girl is so desperate and comes off as extremely ignorant and pathetic. She continues to attack others who are clearly being well received and is equating everything to race. It is 100% her nasty attitude that is holding her career from getting anywhere. Even if she were a good rapper, she is ruining her chances of being likable to the public with these rants. Music is supposed to bring cultures together, not attempt to tear apart by saying only blacks can do this or whites have to do that. That's what makes music so great. I don't see her bitching about Eminem not being black enough to rap. The only person who is doing the black community a disservice is her.

  7. S.k. says – reply to this

Banks is unstable, breaking down and crying during an interview. Really? Wow. Go IGGY!

  8. brontez says – reply to this

so bascially this website is siding with Iggy and once again saying Azealia is a just a crazy black bitch with no point this is BIAS ASS BULLSHIT. she talked about Iggy for like 15 seconds but was talking about lager cultural problems for most of it-why can't you concentrate on that?-see Perez you always bait this TALENTED and PROLIFIC girl with the basic and "white washed" view of race topics and then get mad when she comes for your ass. EW

  9. 9

I would say the Iggy and Macklemore are popular because their sound is unique, not because they are white rappers. I am sure there are plenty of white people out there that are trying to rap but don't make it because people don't like their sound or style.

  10. 10

She sounds soooooo racist. Stop it and show your talent……

  11. bnietzsche says – reply to this

TOTALLY agree with Iggy. Azaelia Banks has been nothing but a whiny, bigoted little bitch since falling off after 212.

  12. Tash says – reply to this

Stop perpetuating racial segregation Azealia! Some people just do not make it. Grammy's are fan based. That should tell you something..

  13. Sabrina says – reply to this

It's sad cause Its true. Racism is everywhere. If you think racism doesn't exist in the music industry, you're the ignorant one. This article is siding with Iggy already so it doesn't even matter what anyone has to say otherwise.

  14. AA says – reply to this

She's just trying to get attention. I hate people like that. Oh, and her music sucks, BTW.

  15. 15

It's all about ENVY and POOR TALENT (or none)…So, it's not about the color of the skin…that BTW. iT DOESNT MATTER.

  16. 16

Re: Guto – true 2 that

  17. lmao says – reply to this

Ok, but how is a transmisogynist, homophobe and rape apologist gonna be talking about racism though? Iggy please stop embarrassing yourself.

  18. 18

I'm not a total fan of Iggy but I agree on what she said. Many talents are looked up to these days, regardless of their skin colors. Banks' mentality puts her in this undesirable situation, or perhaps it's a tactic that'll aid her popularity more. We'll never know.

    " Check out FakeABaby "

  19. RealKat says – reply to this

But it's ok for all the bigots on Fox news to say what they think about the President of the USA, be racist and base all their sick opions and arguments on nonsense and garbage, because they dont like that he is a black man in their white house. But this young artist cant express how she feels, and base her opinions off of what has always happened when a caucasion person picks up a genre of music that was created by a person of color and is seen as being so superior than those that created it , when clearly they are not . She is basing her opions off of her experience and those that came before her in jazz, blues, rythm and blues , rock and roll, and now rap, where some caucasion comes along and picks it up, and in 50 years in the histrory books , caucasions are noted to have created it . FOH !

Iggy Azalea is not , is not a hip hop artist or a rap artist . She should not be mentioned in the same breathe with those that are , simple as that .

  20. Mitochondrial Eve says – reply to this

She has an absolute valid point.

  21. TWang says – reply to this

Her need for attention is ridiculous, at the same level as Kanye and Miley. Iggy is spot on, her attitude is just piss poor and she's playing the hell out of this victim role. That interview shed light on how crazy and insecure she is.

  22. Racist-fucker says – reply to this

She is a sinner, and as any sinner, she acts like a total pretentious-fucker!

  23. Jasmin says – reply to this

Re: brontez – THANK YOU! Perez this is one thing you just should have turned a blind eye to because you clearly are biased this was bigger than a fuckn iggy and everything the young lady said was valid. And no white people won't and will never understand because your white. What part of that don't you all get damn.

  24. Equal yea right says – reply to this

Re: Crowley – we are clearly not equal shut your dumb ass up. Will never be equal

  25. Racist-fucker says – reply to this

The worst in all this, is that she seems to believe in her own crappy and judgemental point of view.

  26. Jasmin says – reply to this

Perez wow such a biased article. As it should be expected from you a white man who wouldn't and couldn't understand a black persons plight. NONE of you ever will. It's more so about what iggy represents than iggy herself. So stfu you don't understand you won't understand and she's not asking you all to. Yall so fuckn dumb. N her music is great don't try to discredit her

  27. Accepted yea righy says – reply to this

Re: Sydney – what world do you live in where black people are accepted? You sound stupid. But then again you probably aren't black so how could you know or speak on what we want and get. Shut yo ass up

  28. kiki says – reply to this

I happen to be a "white" American who (foolishly) spent $16.99. on an Azelia Banks LP a year ago. If I knew then that she was so blatantly raciest, I could have saved my money!! I wonder how the world would react if Iggy or another white rapper got on the radio station and spoke this way about "black" people? THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS BEHAVIOR!! & btw, that LP only had 6 friggin' songs on it… some body of work…

  29. gina says – reply to this

I am so sick of this girl. I havent heard anything about her but her racest ass comments towards iggy. Its 2014 almost 15 and shes still running her shit whole of a mouth!!! Shes never going to make it far in this business with the shit that comes out mouth. No one is gonna work with her. Im so over her #teamiggy

  32. lttjrsays says – reply to this

She is right, white ppl can't see there saddness, they talk abt us. Then they want to be us, if they can't be us then they hate us. iggy is a novelty, little white girls street cred. Then they will go off to college and look down on us. If you are white and you want to make $$ off of black culture, be honest about it. Elvis,Beatles,Mick jagger, said it best. We learned everything from black people. So how is this kid any different, you can have ur money and fame, white paper doesn't say anything. Unless u add color.

  33. jonny says – reply to this

Looks like Perez Hilton is still angry about being name called by Azealia, hence his biased article. Banks talked about way deeper issues than just success and profit and she definitely had more valid points than Iggy. And for the record Azealia Banks had a far better album than Iggy and is better live. Deal with it people!!!

  34. @v@ says – reply to this

What a bunch of racist sour grapes. Iggy's stuff sells because the public has shown that they like it and therefore buys it. Iggy's damn good in her own right. If Azalea's good, her stuff should sell too, and if it doesn't, then she's not as good as she thinks she is. Compete and win properly or get lost. Whiner.

  35. @v@ says – reply to this

You know why I can say that? I've got more albums by blacks than by others, because I like R & B based shit with soul that makes me wanna move. Good tunes
know no color. If it's good and it strikes a chord with me, I buy it and play it, over and over. Azealia Banks has to find the key to appeal to THAT. That is all.

  36. Vance says – reply to this

Azealia is also kind of ugly… While Iggy is hot and has a better body. It's not all about race. Maybe if Azealia was as hot as Beyoncé she'd be famous.

  37. moira says – reply to this

This bitch doesn't know how the industry works and thats why she will NEVER make it. Shes too emotional and doesn'trealize that the whole slave shit is over played. THAT WASNT US WHO MADE YOU BE SLAVES THAT WAS OUR GRANDFATHERRS GRANDFATHERS GRANDFATHER. AND GUESSWHAT? it wasn't you who was enslaved either. so stop. and your song sucks.

  38. Hannah says – reply to this

wow! What an ignoramus! Shame on you Azealia Banks!

  39. howard says – reply to this

    so. damn. racist.

  40. @v@ says – reply to this

She can take a number for the thousands of WHITE singers who didn't make it.
These broads are stupid and have zero perspective.

  41. @v@ says – reply to this

Make some good tunes with universal appeal and the 78% of america who aren't black might decide to pick it up too. Whitney Houston didn't whine about successful white artists. She did tunes that appealed to everybody at the box office. It's in the numbers, honey. If you want to stay true to a smaller genre of music, then you have to accept smaller sales. Iggy has larger appeal, lighter pop-y rap, not standard black rap…which also does some sales to non black audiences.

  42. Crystal says – reply to this

Canada actually, and yah, black people are accepted here. Everyone is actually soooo…. While i'll completely agree that the racism in the states is bonkers, can we please all just acknowledge that its quite clear that both white AND black people are mad racist. for reals, your hating on an entire culture of people based on their skin color and then acting like your the only one who's being hated on for being a different race. Racism goes both ways bud.Re: Accepted yea righy

  43. @v@ says – reply to this

Take Bank's clothing up there. Black, dominatrix-y doesn't appeal to America's little female record buyers. Look at Iggy's colorful, hugging trendy wear. The girls are lapping it up. It's just business sense.

  44. 44

She's clearly just jealous that Iggy is more popular than her *AND* wants to be the more famous celeb with 'Azalea' in their name! ;P

  45. whitetrashrage says – reply to this

She's right, as much as the (white) morons commenting here want to disparage her for it. The music industry has always loved slapping a white face on black music and then throwing accolades at it ie. Elvis, Vanilla Ice, Eminem, and the list goes on and on. Nothing new under the sun in AmeriKKKa.

  46. Becursed youdeserve it says – reply to this

white-trash? and I must assume that you are the ones correct here. That you wouldn't see yourself as a racist person… You are so ridiculous it's unbelievable!!!

  47. @v@ says – reply to this

Re: whitetrashrage – Slapping a white face on 'black' music? Listen up. When you write/perform a song, it belongs to YOU. Music has no color.
By your thinking, then Whitney Houston sang 'white' ballads. No one bitched.

  48. @v@ says – reply to this

Re: whitetrashrage – Do you think that Eminem doesn't own his music because he's white? Phuck you. He grew up in eight mile with everyone else there. He phucking lived it.

  49. ssa says – reply to this

I'm with Banks on this one, Iggy is not special SHE'S A FAKE RAPPER with a FAKE PERSONA the reason she's so big is because she's white period! Even Elvis is called the KING even though he sang black music and didn't give back to the then repressed black community.

  54. KC says – reply to this

The truth is, Azealia's album is 100x better than Iggy's, but everyone is acting like Iggy re-invented hip-hop or something. I was very hesitant to listen Banks's album because of her "piss poor" attitude, but I listened to it, and it's actually almost quite brilliant. She needs to let her talent speak for itself rather than waste her time beefing with everyone.

I think ms. banks is a hypocrite. The brown people who live in igloos might take offense at their heritage being used as a reverse racial slur. Ignorance is bliss I suppose, I just wonder how aboriginal folks feel hearing these words. If she wants to talk about racism, she should have a conversation with one of the music or film industry's leading aboriginal names..but there aren't any. That pot is calling the kettle black and making a mockery of a whole other culture in the process. If miss banks weren't so raunchy and misinformed..she might have less to complain over.

  57. Alec says – reply to this

I get why people are taking shots at Banks' character, it's easy to do and Perez really wants to win this cat fight. But her opinion is also worth paying attention to. She's telling the truth, in so many vulgar words. But she's right about this country and the blatant ignorance many love to be shielded with, as evidenced by many of these comments. Yes, we would all love to be in a post-racial era. But hell no, the people who perpetuated the issue in the first place will not be the ones to decide when that time has arrived b/c most would not know, like many don't understand that racism still exists today and how it is expressed even. It's EASY and v human to be dismissive of other's ideas, but actually try embracing someone else's opinions, and you may find some truth there.

Re: JasminRe: JasminRe: Jasmin – please shut the fuck up

  62. @v@ says – reply to this

It's a numbers game, and it's who you know. If Banks is brilliant as another poster said, then a little more mass appeal, plus the promoters that Iggy has, and Ms. Banks might sit on the mountain too. Slamming other creative people down to get ahead isn't the way, doesn't work, and isn't right. Rise on your own merits. Artists all have to lassoo their own audience/buyers/fans. The people promoting can make it happen more than anyone.

  63. GOLDIE says – reply to this

This young lady definitely lacks tact, grace, and the eloquence to get her real message out and that is unfortunate. I do not think we can "judge" the entire body just buy looking at one part of the body. The "Black Rapper" has some valid points. In this society racial stratification is very real, we as a nation cant ignore that! She stated that through out the course of history the accomplishments of "Black People" have been written out of the history books. (DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!) Anyone who is educated knows that whoever has the power controls what is going to be put in history books! Its just my opinion when you step back and take off the rose colored glasses you begin to see how "White People" have continuously done "Black People" wrong.

  64. ? says – reply to this

Is it only me or this Azealia exudes much bad vibes?

  65. thetruthhurts says – reply to this

Frankly one can doubt the message has any value. Did Beyonce lack grammy awards. Do talentless female black rappers (sorry but did she never heard of Nicki Minaj) lack popularity of media attention.

I am not the biggest Iggy fan but i hardly think she is popular because of racism.

Banks just needs to accept that she rubs people the wrong way PERIOD. People are not interested in her. Frankly a lot of people dislike her. And that seems just about the right attitude to take considering the things she says in press.

Its a shame because is actually an quit decent rapper (personally i think she ”flows” better then either Nicki or Iggy…but i am old so what the hell do i know).

  66. Andres Herrera says – reply to this

    iggy is a racist asshole.

  67. Jp says – reply to this

    (1) You know you have a bias against Banks.
    (2) All of her points are. And instead of pulling quotes from the interview you poorly summarized it while posting all of Iggys tweets
    (3) You dont even follow hip hop. I wonder if you will blast Q-Tip for schooling Iggy or Solange who agrees with Banks. Doubt it.
    (4) Finally, fans dont equal talent. Westboro Baptist has fans.

  68. Morgasm says – reply to this

Re: lttjrsays – What the hell are you smoking? There are blacks who don't want to be black. Hell, blacks enslaved eachother in Africa and still do. Your dumb ass needs to travel a bit and get a real education, which doesn't include affirmations to make yourself feel better and find a scapegoat for the fact that your ass isn't winning,

  69. Morgasm says – reply to this

Re: Jp – Your analogy sucks. Westboro Baptist has more detractors than "fans" as you call it, but even the ACLU defended their speech as being protected. That should be a reminder that regardless of skin color, people are free to believe what they wish and pursue happiness, not be held back from cutting an album in a particular genre based on lack of pigment.

But who wants to talk about all the highly successful labels run by blacks, for black artists ONLY? Anybody? Anyone?!

  70. Renee says – reply to this

You people below and Perez are really ignorant to the issues here. At some point you have to take a step back and look at the facts. Perez you should be ashamed for trying to delegitimize banks feelings in this issue. Everyone knows that America and race have a long standing history and this cultural smudging is just one of many attacks on black culture. No one is saying tang iggy isn't talented but is she the face of hip hop…NO!

  71. Tom says – reply to this

Re: KC – You don't like Iggy's music and you think Bank's album is brilliant or "almost brilliant". Banks had only one hit album and it was a while ago, quite a while ago . I don't hear any rumblings about her latest album turning into a huge hit so I'm guessing (never heard her) she is not as "brilliant" as you think she is, and Banks obviously thinks she is. I have seen and heard a few Iggy raps and videos and she obviously is hot and talented. The public agrees with me and that's the bottom line in the music business. Banks is not being smart, let alone brilliant, by shooting her mouth off like this. Jealous much, I'm afraid. "One jealous bitch, as the other poster put it.

  72. Shizuku ninami says – reply to this

    Re: RealKat

I agree with you. As well as azealia banks (not a fan of her music). Political correctness and being blind sighted is why most cannot see what she is talking about. Doesn't make her racist. White person in media voices opinion that is distasteful or brash: suffering with depression or some nonsensical bs. Black person in media voices opinion that Iis distastefulor brash: crazy, off the rails….racist.
Racism will never die as people still profit from it. Being pro black is not the same as being pro white. Sad times.

    Peoples opinions should be respected

  73. @v@ says – reply to this

Re: Tom – The business is weird. Some artists just have the 'it' factor. Britney Spears doesn't have a great voice, but look at what happened there. Stevie Nicks can sound like a nanny goat, but people love her, me included. That certain something that grabs people or doesn't is indefinable. Some mediocre black rappers blew up big, while some amazing sounding black rappers didn't but just did alright. Banks needs to keep working hard, and trying to get THAT song that put her stuff over the top, and stop the hell worrying about what somebody else is doing. There's room for as many great artists as can come up. It's not a freaking competition. It's creative audio art.

  74. WholeRadio says – reply to this

Re: brontez – Nobody hates her because she's white. They hate her because she's Aussie and uses an offensive 'Black Voice" to do her music. DISGUSTING!!!!Eminem used his natural American, Detroit accent.

    Re: kody – agreeeeeeeeee

  76. @v@ says – reply to this

Re: WholeRadio – You know that the black svengalis in the studio work with Iggy to get her sound on a song. Piling mercilessly on a young girl because she's an Aussie singer and white and 'shouldn't' (huh?) do that kind of music is ridiculous. It's work and it pays the bills. An artist develops their sound as they go along, too. Whatever works with the riff and the bars to give it the most zing is what they go with. Fancy was a catchy, catchy tune in a more pop vein, and it flew. Even older people liked it. Musical realms are NOT the property of ethnic groups. People like Elvis, who was an amazing velvety vocalist with talent coming out of every pore. He grew up in the south on black influences and because he was white Elvis, put his own personal twist on that encompassed it and made more universal tunes that appealed to a wider base of the non black public. Blacks bought his tunes too. The way he looked and moved and the twinkle in his eye helped. When Tina Turner took on the Thunderdome (white according to Banks thinking) tunes in a London studio for Aussie Mad Max, she was heralded for her renditions. 'We Don't Need Another Hero' was written by Terry Britten and Graham Lyle. There's a terrible lack of grace in spirit here towards a white artist who feels and has embraced black sound in her own way, imo.

  77. Team Banks says – reply to this

I listened to Iggy all summer and liked a
lot of her music and after listening to Banks album I agree with her. Bank's album is more genuine, lyrically, musically and intellectualy interesting. Iggy has created a persona outside of who she really is while Banks really is her music. Banks has every right to be angry. The white men in suits have final say and as someone who works in the industry I know how these people strategize to make things popular to push agendas. Cultural smuggling. #teambanks
