Former NYPD Officer Is Gunned Down While On-Duty In Florida

Just one day after two NYPD officers were shot in Brooklyn, another former NYPD policeman was killed in Florida.

17-year veteran Charles Kondek was on-duty for the Tarpon Springs Police Department at 3am on Sunday morning. There was a complaint that a suspect was knocking on doors at the Villa Plumosa condos, which is what he was responding to.

Kondek, a father of five, was tragically shot and killed while responding to the call.

According to reports, the suspect was driving a white Hyundai Elantra and sped away before he crashed into a pole and another car, then was apprehended.

This is the first officer since 1969 that has been killed in the line of duty in Tarpon Springs. The police department released a statement, saying:

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the Kondek Family and offer our deepest sympathy to them,. May Charlie rest in peace and We Will Never Forget him."

Our thoughts are with his family as well. So, so sad.

This is so sad, and so close to Christmas. May he RIP and condolences to his family.
I think they still have "Ol Sparky" in Florida, not 100% sure.
