Ooooh, this is gonna make Donald Trump so angry... which means it's a good thing!!
And boy, are they ever!!
The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies was inevitably going to be a success.
Not only does the franchise have a built-in fan base, but after five other films, fans are going to turn up to see how it all ends.
The surprise is just how many showed up opening weekend!
The film not only swallowed the competition like an enormous dragon hoarding gold — it even beat its own franchise record!
That's more than either An Unexpected Journey ($84.6 mil) or The Desolation of Smaug ($73.6 mil) pulled in for their openings — though to be fair, Five Armies did have the advantage of a long weekend, opening on a Wednesday.
The final Hobbit was NOT able to dethrone The Return Of The King however; the final Lord Of The Rings film earned $124 million in its first five days.
Still, it show people are still into these films! If only there were more to make…
