'There Could Be 50' Ghostbusters In All-Female Reboot! WHA?? Get The Fresh Deets From The Director HERE!
Ever since the announcement of a new Ghostbusters movie, there has been a lot of confusion as to exactly what shape the flick would take.
Would it be a sequel? A remake? Fans' streams — and wires — definitely seem to be crossed on this one!
Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is ready to set the record straight!
First, he says this is absolutely a REBOOT. Why? Because he had "too much respect for the original one" to make a sequel!
"There's the feeling that once the world knows ghosts and has seen them busted on such a large scale, they run the risk of becoming pedestrian. There's something fun about introducing our world, which has never seen ghosts, to the phenomenon of ghosts."
A brand new world that's never seen ghosts! Meaning this is DEFINITELY a brand new story.
On top of that, he talked about the fact that he's basically making Lady Ghostbusters, saying:
"A lot of people accused it of being a gimmick. I guess I can see the cynics' view of it, but for me I just love working with funny women. People said, 'Why don't you do a mix?' I'm just more interested in the idea of lady Ghostbusters. It's the way my brain works. It won't be called Lady Ghostbusters! Ghostbusters is the way to go."
Ha! We feel just calling it Ghostbusters is a good idea too.
As far as who might star in this new film?? He continued:
"Right now, honestly, there could be 50 Ghostbusters. I'm just waiting to get our first draft of the script together to go, 'Who makes sense in these roles?' If I put the list in front of me of people that have said they want to do it, talk about a Sophie's Choice. When you do a movie like Ghostbusters, people get very interested."
Sounds like he's really got his pick of the litter! And if he's not set on the original number of four 'Busters, that probably means he's not just retelling the same story!
So not a remake either! Great news! Remakes are so lame!
Sadly, this film probably won't be as profane as some of Feig's other films, like The Heat.
He wants to try and make it "scarier than the original" but that doesn't mean an R-rating. He said:
"The reason I do a lot of R-rated comedies is that you want a movie to feel honest, but the Ghostbusters world doesn't need that level of swearing. We'll have to be PG-13 with this one."
Aww! Now we kind of want a hardcore Ghostbusters horror-thriller!! LOLz!
We're seriously so excited for this reboot now!
But how do U feel?? Sound off in the comments!!
