Yeah, we were curious too!

Apparently, cabbage is natural remedy to alleviate the pain a woman experiences when she breastfeeds.

The actress explained:

"Apparently when you get engorged after the baby's born and the milk comes in… you can put cold cabbage leaves on your boobs and apparently it stops the milk."

Hmm, very inneresting!

Find out how Peet's hubby feels about the cabbage bra (below)!

Ha! We love Amanda's creativity!

What do YOU think of the cabbage bra?!

Actually cabbage leaves help also to joint pains. Just heat it on a pan or skillet and apply them on joints with a bandage an it relieves the pain.

This isn't something creative… it's something that is fairly common knowledge on pregnancy and new mommy forums… oh well

I did it too! Worked for me but it smells like hell!

No no no! She needs to be in touch with an IBCLC or other knowledgeable, certified lactation professional. This is sending the wrong message to new moms out there who might be struggling. Breastfeeding should not hurt. Cabbage leaves can potentially be detrimental to supply.

Why not just feed the baby a lot to ease engorgement? Isn't that why it happens in the first place? The smell of cabbage might or might not turn a baby off feeding. Can bacteria from the cabbage enter the milk canals? I wouldn't risk it.

This is common knowledge, when i did it too, when i had my second Boy. Amanda Peet says it doesnt help though she does it, i think she is not doing it right. She Needs to first cook the leaves in water, then cool them in the fridge and …then use them. You cant just slap them in your bra!

I used this same method when I stopped breastfeeding, I was super engorged and in pain. I would first take a hot shower to relieve my boobies and then put the cold leaves over my breast along with a sports bra. Then I took a bag of frozen peas and placed it on my chest. Two days of that and I was done!
