Welp, it's official.
Angelina Jolie can now cross "Meet the Pope" and "Screen a film at the Vatican" off her bucket list!
As we mentioned earlier, there were rumors that the 39-year-old mother was scheduled to meet Pope Francis during her trip to Rome this month.
That meeting happened Thursday morning, followed by a screening of her movie Unbroken at the Vatican for the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. Making her trip even more monumental than we previously imagined!!

Angie graciously released the following statement about the event:
"Being invited with my film to the Vatican is an honor and a great tribute to the story that I have told in Unbroken. The story of the hero Louis a great example of strength and forgiveness."
Which makes it sound like Pope Francis was the one who wanted to meet her, not the other way around!
Universal Pictures Italia also released a statement, saying:
"Pope Francis, aware of the incredible life story of Louis Zamperini, graciously welcomed the opportunity to view the film and is expected to attend the screening at the Casina Pio IV, headquarters of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences"
Unfortunately Brad Pitt wasn't able to make it due to a "last minute change", but we're sure he was there in spirit.

And Louis Zamperini's son Luke was there to help Angie host the epic event, so we're sure the star had all the moral support she needed!
Hope His Holiness enjoyed the flick!!
