The Lego Movie Directors Reveal New Details For A Sequel! EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!

Phil Lord and Chris Miller spill details on the Lego Movie sequel!

It looks like we should start getting ready for a whole new round of AWESOMENESS!

Lego Movie director's Phil Lord and Chris Miller have revealed that they are already writing the screenplay for an upcoming sequel, and it sounds like we're going to get a chance to see what happens to Emmet and his friends a few years down the road!

While they might not return to direct, the two said they were very interested in exploring what happens in the Lego universe four years from now, while also focusing on what's happening in the REAL world! Chris explains:

"Well I don't want to give you spoilers but we were really interested in what happens to that boy who's in the meta story in the first movie when he's four years older. When he's an adolescent how does that change his point of view? It's nice to have the characters start in a different place from the first movie. Emmet, for example, was in an existential crisis of having seen another dimension and was questioning the whole point of his existence."

Ohhh! It'll be just like watching Andy from Toy Story grow up all over again! Except with Legos. And hopefully slightly less heartbreaking…

So now that we got the good news out of the way, here's the bad news– Lego Movie 2 wont actually come out until 2018! BUT, we will have Lego Batman in 2017 to hold us over until then!

We can't WAIT to see what Emmet and Wyldstyle are up to! And we're sure Benny will have built PLENTY of spaceships by then too!

Mmm, just more Chris Pratt voice please!
