UPDATE: French police stormed both buildings, reportedly killing the Kouachi brothers AND the gunman in Paris. The single hostage being held at the print shop in Dammartin-en-Goële is safe. Several hostages were also seen leaving the scene of the Paris standoff.
This is all too crazy.
The men believed to be the shooters in the Charlie Hebdo massacre have been cornered in a town north of Paris called Dammartin-en-Goële.
Brothers Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi have reportedly taken at least one hostage and are standing off against police in a print shop.
Meanwhile, in Paris yet another hostage situation is unfolding.
A gunman reported to be connected in some way to the Charlie Hebdo shooters reportedly opened fire in a Jewish supermarket in Porte de Vincennes.
It is believed that at least two are dead and at least five are being held hostage. It also seems as though the hostage-taker, Amedy Coulibaly, 32, according to USA Today, is the one who shot and killed policewoman Clarissa Jean-Philippe, 27, in previous days. It's unknown to what extent his alleged accomplice from the policewoman shooting, Hayat Boumeddiene, 26 (thought to be Amedy's girlfriend), is involved in the hostage situation.
We can hardly believe all of this.
Our hearts are with the hostages and their families. We pray for a speedy and bloodless end to both of these situations.
