Saturday Night Live has been around for 40 years now and its producer, Lorne Michaels, is thinking about all the what ifs…
Like, what if he hadn't rejected certain comedians from his show?
You might not believe how many insanely talented (and currently successful) people were rejected by SNL!
Some of the bigger names to get turned down by the show are: Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, and Jim Carrey!!
Wow! Every single one of them is a huge success now!
And SNL rejected them?? Lorne said:
"Lisa Kudrow gave a brilliant audition [in 1985], but it was at the time when it was Jan Hooks and Nora [Dunn].
Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell auditioned. There were lots of people you'd see how brilliant they were, but you knew on some level it wasn't going to work.
I wasn't at Jim Carrey's audition, but somebody there said, 'I don't think Lorne would like it,' and they were probably wrong, but it doesn't matter. Or maybe they were right – who knows? No one gets it all right."
Wow, so Kudrow was great but it was just bad timing. Colbert and Carell were just missing that… je ne sais quoi.
And he wasn't even in the room for Jim Carrey's audition?!

Sounds like that's a real missed opportunity.
Lucky for those stars, their careers turned out pretty alright we guess. LOLz!
Speaking of Jim Carrey, he'll be appearing on SNL's 40th anniversary special (along with many others), which airs February 15th! Get excited!!
