What's smoother than Kenny G's saxophonic melodies? Nothing.
But a Starbucks Frappuccino isn't far off, so it's no surprise that the Master of Sax had a hand in making that drink happen!
"Well, at the beginning, Starbucks didn't have anything but coffee, and there was another company, Coffee Bean, that had something called blended … it was a sweet drink, and people were lined up around the block. And I would always call Howard [Schultz, Starbucks chairman, president and CEO] and say, 'Howard, there's this thing that they do there that's like a milkshake or whatever. And so I think that part of the reason that they did Frappuccino was people like me giving them that kind of feedback. I like to think I was partially responsible for that."
That's a bold claim, Kenny! So, what did Starbucks have to say about this?!
One of the company's spokesmen actually verified every word! He said:
"Kenny is a dear friend of Starbucks and an early investor in the company. He did provide feedback on the creation of Frappuccino. That's true … We are very appreciative of everyone, including Kenny, who've been a part of the success of Frappuccino."
So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen! Every time you drink a Frappuccino, remember that there's a little bit of Kenny G in there!
