Draven Rodriguez's creativeness went viral last year after he shared a photo featuring lasers and his cat that he wanted his school to include as his yearbook photo.
And while his teachers at Schenectady High School initially rejected the idea - they soon became hip to how amazing the photo really is.
But unfortunate news hit the world on Thursday evening when his parents revealed that the 17 year old had tragically taken his own life.
"He made friends wherever he went. He had friends all over the country – people he'd met at youth-leadership conferences, online, just around town."
After the photo went viral, Rodriguez talked about how proud he was of the photo in an interview. He said at the time:
"I don't want to go in the yearbook with the generic 'I-look-like-everyone-else'photo. I wanted a 'He looks great. Only he would try that' photo. When people look at it, they will know that was me."
He left behind a legacy with only one photo - what's unfortunate is it's clear this young man had the potential to leave behind much much more.
RIP Draven Rodriguez.
