While the adorable Eddie Redmayne was taking the stage to accept the Best Actor Oscar, one man was doing something altogether sad.
You probably didn't notice as you checked off your ballot and cursed your friend Billy who seemed to know every single winner in advance.

But right there in the front row, Birdman star Michael Keaton was putting away his acceptance speech.
And the cameras caught the agony of defeat on video (below):
Fortunately, Michael did get to take the stage later in the evening as Birdman won Best Picture.
He even got a little time to be a good sport at the mic, saying:
"It's great to be here, who am I kidding? This is just a great time. Thank you very much."
That Mr. Mom has a good head on his shoulders! And a hot son too!
