Purina Sued In Class Action Lawsuit Over Allegedly Poisoning And Killing 4,000 Dogs Through Beneful Dog Food

We hope this isn't true, but if it is — justice needs to be served!

Nestle Purina PetCare Company is facing a class action lawsuit filed by a man named Frank Lucido who alleges the company's Beneful dry kibble food is the reason for thousands of dogs dying or becoming ill!

The lawsuit was filed in California federal court and it came about after three dogs Mr. Lucido owned in three different houses all became sick with the same symptoms. When one of the dogs died, an autopsy revealed the dog had been poisoned!

And the only constant between the three dogs was the Purina dog food they were eating. The other two dogs remain under veterinary care.

The lawyer for this grieving client took on the case after finding 3,000 similar complaints online!

Here's what the lawyer representing Mr. Lucido said:

"All three of them weren't exposed to a singular condition. The one constant they had was they were all eating the same dog food…Cases like these are important because we do invest so much love and time in our pets and they are such a part of our family. What is going on at this point is significant in the lives people who lost their pets."

Purina has since responded to the case by assuring folks that "there are no quality issues with Beneful." They also released a statement that read:

"We believe the lawsuit is baseless, and we intend to vigorously defend ourselves and our brand. Beneful had two previous class action suits filed in recent years with similar baseless allegations, and both were dismissed by the courts…Like other pet foods, Beneful is occasionally the subject of social media-driven misinformation. On-line postings often contain false, unsupported and misleading allegations that cause undue concern and confusion for our Beneful customers."

Well, just because other cases were dismissed that doesn't mean the claims were baseless!

And if any of these claims, and there are over 3,000 complaints of dogs eating this food and becoming ill and sometimes dying, have any truth to them, Purina is going to have a lot of explaining to do that can't be covered up with one strongly worded statement.

If it is toxins in the dog food that is to blame for wide reported symptoms like stomach internal bleeding, malfunction or failure of the liver, vomiting, diarrhea and weight loss, that's something this company needs to address immediately!

Because as anyone who has owned a dog knows: canines are very much a beloved extension of almost every family!
