This week, the Justice Department came to a conclusion that officer Darren Wilson did nothing illegal when he shot and killed Michael Brown back on August 9th, declining to indict him.

So, Michael's parents are doing the only thing they can and are suing Wilson in civil court. Their attorney Daryl Parks made a statement on Thursday, saying:
"We believe that there were other alternatives available to [Wilson]. He did not have to kill Michael Brown."
Despite the fact that the Justice Department found no wrongdoing on behalf of Wilson, they did uncover that the Ferguson Police Department has a racist history. After that was revealed, the Brown family said:
"We received disappointing news from the Department of Justice that the killer of our son wouldn't be held accountable for his actions. While we are saddened by this decision, we are encouraged that the DOJ will hold the Ferguson Police Department accountable for the pattern of racial bias and profiling they found in their handling of interactions with people of color. It is our hope that through this action, true change will come not only in Ferguson but around the country. If that change happens, our son's death will not have been in vain."
Hopefully this family finds some kind of resolution and closure soon.
