What a terrible way to end a terrible year.
Robin Thicke hasn't had the best luck during these past 12 months, and it looks like the start to his 38th go around the sun isn't starting off much better.
That's because Robin and Pharrell just lost their Blurred Lines copyright lawsuit to Marvin Gaye on Tuesday… which also happens to be Robin's birthday.
Despite his musical defense, along with Pharrell, T.I., and even Paula Patton taking the stand, the jury found that the men behind the controversial song owe Marvin's estate $7.3 million!

That is a pretty crappy birthday present.
Following the verdict, Pharrell's team released a statement, saying:
"Pharrell created Blurred Lines from his heart, mind, and soul and the song was not taken from anyone or anywhere else. We are reviewing the decision, considering our options and you will hear more from us soon about this matter."
So it sounds to us like this case might not be as closed as we thought!
But what do U think??
Did Pharrell and Robin really steal Blurred Lines, or are they being judged unfairly?
Let us know in the comments (below)!!!
