This is unimaginably tragic.
The team did release a statement on the matter, though (below):
Of all the '90s movies in all the retro theaters, you had to come in here and remake this one??
A remake of the 1999 teen rom com She's All That is reportedly in development!
The original has some stuff going for it — fantasy proms filled with choreographed dances, that Sixpence None The Richer song, vintage Paul Walker…
But it just feels so dated.
The remake is being produced by Tonya Lewis Lee, wife of Spike Lee — so they may be planning to Love Don't Cost A Thing it.
But here's the thing — She's All That is just a sorta hip update of Pygmalion anyway. So why not go to the source material?
Make a new version of My Fair Lady, only give gurl something to do that isn't just looking pretty and speaking eruditely. Maybe she could also be trained to be a badass spy or something?
Oh wait, we just described the plot of La Femme Nikita, didn't we?
Look, we're all for makeover movies, but do we have to have a makeover OF a makeover movie?
What do YOU think??
Would YOU Watch A She's All That Remake?
