"Fetch" may never happen, but the Mean Girls musical still totally is!!
Way back in 2013 we reported that a musical version of the hit 2004 comedy was in the early stages of production from writer Tina Fey and her composer husband Jeff Richmond!
After no word on the production's status for a while, it's been announced that the Broadway adaptation of the film is still underway — and a first draft is expected to be finished as soon as this summer!

But after that, their journey will be even harder than Kevin G's rap career.
Richmond, who will be writing the music, says that they still have a long road ahead of them in converting script pages to musical numbers:
"We definitely want to see some kind of shape by the end of the summer. With that in mind, we know that 60 or 70 percent of that will go away when we start bringing in real singers and actors. We'll do a lot of rewriting. The most difficult part of the process is determining, 'What are your best song ideas, and what do you leave alone as dialogue?' "
Musicals are traditionally the hardest entertainment mediums to produce. The Broadway smash-hit Book Of Mormon took almost seven years for creators Matt Parker and Trey Stone to develop!
But if Ms. Norbury taught us anything in Mean Girls, it's that "the limit does not exist!" That, and joining the Mathletes is social suicide.
Are U excited for the plastics' Broadway debut?
