OK, so they're together, but not like together together...
But -- and there's always a but -- the pair

On Sunday evening while delivering his lecture at the Sydney Opera House through a holographic projection, the Cambridge University scientist and professor was asked about a topic that no one figured would be in his repertoire: the British boyband known as One Direction.
Before Mr. Hawking's lecture ended, a member of the audience asked the 73-year-old:
"What do you think is the cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction and consequently breaking the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world?"
Kudos to the person who was able to weave in a question about 1D all while making it science-y. LOLz!
"Finally, a question about something important. My advice to any heartbroken young girl is to pay close attention to the study of theoretical physics, because one day there may well be proof of multiple universes.
It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another different universe, and in that universe, Zayn is still in One Direction."
And that's not all!
If all you ladies weren't sold on that answer, Stephen went on to say that it is possible:
"This girl may like to know that in another possible universe, she and Zayn are happily married."
GASP! Directioners, it's time to put your smarticles to good use and figure out how we can all travel to this other universe!
Go forth and study the shiz out of theoretical physics!
