Vanity Fair's big Star Wars: The Force Awakens issue may not hit newsstands until May 12, but they couldn't NOT give you the pics today!
After all, it's May 4th — as in May the Fourth Be With You!

We already saw the amazing cover featuring Harrison Ford, but now we're getting the scoop on the new characters!
Girls star Adam Driver is, as expected, draped in black as Darth-y new villain Kylo Ren — which we are assured is not the name of an indie band… yet.
Based on the long cloak, we're guessing he's the guy in the first teaser who stomps around with that triple lightsaber.

But WTF is Lupita Nyong'o wearing?? It turns out she's covered in motion capture dots because she's playing a completely CG character!
We won't even see that perfect face? What a waste!
Thanks to the VF pics, we also now know her character's name is Maz Kanata, and she's a space pirate of some kind.
OK, that's pretty awesome!
There's also a nice heroic shot of Oscar Isaac's previously revealed X-wing pilot Poe Dameron. X-citing!
Ch-ch-check out the rest of the pics (above) to see the creative team, on-set action, and some brand new aliens shot by the peerless Annie Leibovitz!
