After 15 seasons of being a staple at Fox, American Idol will be coming to an end next year. So what's going to happened to that timeslot, and what will Fox do to fill the void?!

According to reports, a source close to the network explained Fox is in talks with Simon Cowell to develop a new project for them once American Idol has come to an end. The source said:
"Word all over the lot is that they're going to take a year after ‘Idol,' let the time slot breathe, and then they're going with another Cowell reality project."
Word is that Fox will wait until 2017 to release the show, at which point Mr. Cowell's new project would air in the the same time slot Idol has held, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm!
There's no info yet on what exactly the project is, but we're guessing it's going to be something musically based, as several of Cowell's past projects have been. In 2010 Cowell left the Idol gig to create The X Factor for Fox, another singing based show that ended up lasting only three seasons.

Most recently, Cowell has developed a project called Ultimate DJ set to air on Yahoo Live! It revolves around, you guessed it, DJs competing to be the best for a chance to headline a major Electronic Music festival and a record contract!
We don't know what's in store for Cowell's next project but we know we're very intrigued! What do you think? Do you want another music competition show out of Cowell and Fox, or are you ready for something new?!
