NFL pioneer and Dancing With The Stars alum Michael Sam is back on the gridiron, and this time, he's going to Canada to play!
Friday morning, news broke that Sam had signed with the Montreal Alouettes, a professional team in the Canadian Football League. Yay!!!
Sam said of the signing:
"I am very excited and proud to join the Montreal Alouettes and want to thank team Owner Robert Wetenhall, General Manager Jim Popp and Head Coach Tom Higgins for this opportunity. I cannot wait to put on the pads, get back on the field and work hard each and every day with my teammates to bring a Grey Cup to the great fans here in Montreal."

The former Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year while in college at the University of Missouri will be a big boost to the team in Montreal, according to Popp:
"With the signing of Michael Sam, we have become a better organization today. Not only have we added an outstanding football player, we have added even a better person that brings dignity, character, and heart to our team."
From forever changing the NFL by being the first openly gay active player in that league, to now playing in a new league and country, it's great to see Michael Sam get another shot to pursue his football dreams!
Congratulations to Sam who, oh by the way, will make a cool $100,000 this season!
The Alouettes' first game is June 25 against the Ottawa Redblacks.
