So says Rick Perry, the former governor of Texas and 2012 presidential campaign failure, on the Mike Gallagher Show Saturday.
Perry told the show's host that he's ready to "stand on that stage in the first debate" amongst the 2016 Republican field, which is in direct opposition to how he's failed to stand up for equality throughout his career:
"I knew that after our unsuccessful attempt in 2011, 2012 I was a bit naive about what it required to run for the presidency of the United States. Just being the governor of Texas was not enough."
Just being the governor of Texas absolutely was not enough for the man now under federal indictment for bribery and coercion of a public official.
Perry also spoke of his physical and mental fitness in running for the presidency:
"I realized that being physically fit is every bit as much important as mentally fit. I'm very, very comfortable. My wife is very comfortable. My family is very comfortable. The team of people that I've asked to assist me is very comfortable that we are very ready for this effort."
