Did they allow El Chapo to make his escape?? Interior Secretary Miguel Angel Osorio Chong seems to imply corruption in his statement on the firings, saying:
"They had something or a lot to do with what happened, and that's why we made that decision."
Presumably Mexico released the video because of public opinion; apparently many believed that El Chapo was simply let go, and this proved at least that he did escape.
Though, as multiple Homeland Security experts point out, even if El Chapo escaped through a mile-long tunnel as was reported, his men it would still need inside info like floor plans — not to mention a blind eye and deaf ear to the hours of digging!
