"I don't like labels, but everyone needs them to understand what is going on. So, okay, I get it. Give me 'American.' There is nothing wrong with being an American, purely."
While we agree there's nothing wrong with being an American, there's also nothing wrong with being African-American! At the end of the day, labels are only worth the power you assign them!
"I think that there are a lot of different races that fall under 'American,' so past that you really just are sub-categorizing me over and over again. I'm not disowning my history in any way. My family has been here for almost 400 years. We're American. This is me and what I feel about myself. But if you identify as African-American, then you're African-American. What right do I have to tell you what you are and what you're not?"
Very interesting point! The 29-year-old, along with everyone else, has the sole right to define. It's clear RS doesn't like labels — despite exclusively dating a woman, she has never referred to herself as bisexual, queer, or gay. According to Raven, she's just a "human who loves other humans".
Well, obviously Twitter had something to say about the That's So Raven star's controversial comments. Check out some feelings (below)!
Raven gave up being African American so Rachel could take it up. Isn't that, like, the first law of alchemy? Equal exchange?
As we previously reported, the Fuller House star called off her engagement to Justin Hodak last week -- and since then there has been nonstop drama. Not only did Jodie have to call the police on Hodak for threatening to kill himself, but the Dancing With The Stars alum also took out a temporary restraining order against Justin for getting aggressive with her while on drugs. So scary!
