It would have been a travesty!
We think everyone can agree that Sex and the City is absolutely fabulous! But part of what makes a show so great is the characters and the actors who play them.
Can you imagine the show without Samantha? Or someone else playing Carrie other than Sarah Jessica Parker?! Well we almost had the second scenario, which means the world would be a very different place!

It was revealed in an interview with Seth Rudetsky — who recently starred with Parker and her husband, Matthew Broderick — that originally Parker didn't want anything to do with the HBO series!
He said of the actress:
"[Sarah Jessica] was reluctant to do the pilot because she didn't really want to do a series. However, she loved the script, so she filmed it and then forgot about it. Months later she found out the show was picked up and she completely wanted to get out of it. I mean, completely. She really didn't want to be tied down to one job because she loved going from gig to gig and being, what she called, a 'journeyman.'"
She apparently tried several times to get out of her contract, even going as far as to tell HBO that she would film three projects for free for them if they'd get her out of it!
Luckily for us, the network saw her potential in the role and made her do one. Once the ball got rolling, the Hocus Pocus star LOVED it and had no regrets.
But that's not all!
The best tidbit from the interview came when Rudetsky revealed that there's chance for another Sex and the City movie! The Broadway vet said:
"She told us that there may be a project coming up involving all the ladies."
Sure, we're might be reading into that a little bit but aren't you dying for another adventure with your favorite ladies?!
