OK, so they're together, but not like together together...
But -- and there's always a but -- the pair

This split still has us a bit in disbelief.
So where did it go wrong for the former flames??
Well, a source is claiming:
"At the end of the day, they just didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things."
And while "their friends and their social circles never really mixed," the source also says:
"They originally got together to make an album and that's where the spark between them originated. But it just slowly died out."
Aww! That makes us so sad!
Avril even touched upon that in her statement, sharing "Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments."
It's such a sweet sentiment, too.
"Honestly, she's doing OK. This has been in the works for awhile… Avril is still sick, so she's not working much—just here and there. It's been a tough year. But these days, she's living in L.A. and has a very close, supportive group of friends. She's focused on her recovery but she knows it's going to take time."
We just can't imagine trying to recover from Lyme disease and deal with this heartbreak, but we're happy to hear she's getting through it.
And as for Chad?? Well, it looks like he's had a bit of a different process.
While the insider believes "Chad is being supportive," it was only a couple weeks ago that the Nickelback frontman was seen partying in Miami with another lady!
On August 18, the 40-year-old hit up club E11EVEN, with an eyewitness saying he was out until 5 a.m.:
"Chad came in with a woman and a security guard. He was down in the party pit by the stage, definitely out in clear, plain view — not in the private back VIP areas. He was saying that there aren't that many places for him to go in Miami, he was happy to be there and be chill. He and the girl had a great time, they were dancing."
Everyone deals with it differently.
Also considering rumors of a split started swirling months ago, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if the twosome just waited until the right moment to share the news.
It's still sad though.
We're wishing them both the best!
