Liam Payne is ready to open up… unfortunately not his shirt though!
As we previously reported, the One Direction hunk disappointed fans everywhere when he decided to not go topless on the cover of Attitude magazine. LOLz!
However, the British cutie did get serious about talking about staying sober and 1D's decision to go on hiatus for his first solo magazine cover.
Apparently, the Drag Me Down singer decided not to take his shirt off for the photoshoot because his past partying ways made him gain weight. Oh no!

"I started drinking a lot and I began to get a bit tubbier. In fact, because of that I was getting fat jibes all the time, which hurt me…I'm not afraid to say I went through a pretty bad stage. And for that time in my life, that was perfect for me."
Nonetheless, the heartthrob noted that his partying ways went a bit too far when he showed up at a fan event intoxicated. Whoa, what an honest answer.
"There were just a few times that I went over the limit with things and then I had to pull it back. I was very fortunate that I had lots of great people around me who said to me, 'Look Liam, you need to chill out a bit now.'"
Regardless, the Night Changes performer is now sober. Good for him!
"I'm not here to be a role model. It's a difficult thing to place pressure on you when you're so young. I'm going to mess up from time to time. Everyone does. I'm only human, and sometimes I let my guard down a little too much."
Hmm, that's an inneresting way to put it.
As for the future of his famous boyband?! Liam credits his girlfriend Sophia Smith with helping him stay humble and convincing him to branch out to do the shoot.
Though this may be a Directioner's worst nightmare, Liam is vehement that it is time for him and his bandmates to explore new things.
"I realize now this is the time to start branching out and exploring. [ This is the ] first time I have done something on my own.
I was so happy to get the award, but at the same time it's a super scary thing because [doing the interview alone is] such a huge statement to make."
Don't panic, superfans, the boys will work again according to the 22-year-old. Phew!
Though Liam isn't homophonic, he is NOT a fan of the fan fiction that pairs his various group members together.
"When the [gay marriage] law changed in the U.S. there were loads of rainbow flags flying at our shows, but I think that was mainly because people think of the Louis and Harry thing, which is absolutely nuts and drives me insane. It's like when you know the ins and outs of what's going on with people,it's just annoying when it's so stupid…It becomes like a conspiracy or a cult."
It seems that's not the only thing that annoys the X Factor alum. He also addressed the rumors circling Briana Jungwirth's pregnancy with Louis Tomlinson.
"He's very happy about becoming a dad. But the funny thing is, there are some people out there who think that Louis getting Briana pregnant is fake. That's it's not real; it's a cover up. And that's the sort of s–t that gets to me. But you have to hold your tongue and that's fine."
Wow! We might need time to process all of these truth bombs. HA!
And it seems as though many fans aren't loving his candid answers as the singing sensation took to Twitter on Thursday to defend his interview. He wrote:
We're certainly sad to see the boys taking some time apart, but it'll be cool to see what they do next.
