"In the film, your character Ronnie is very open about his sexuality. But given interviews you've done in the past your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous. Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?"
Merp. Why not ask for his diary too while you're at it! WE KID.
Unfortunately, the Inception actor didn't enjoy the buried context in the question and became quickly frustrated.
The Hollywood hunk paused before inquiring:
"What on earth are you on about?"
The obviously flustered reported tried to save face and repeated his question. The Dark Knight Rises villain then retorted:
"I don't find it difficult for celebrities to talk about their sexuality. Are you asking me about my sexuality?"
Oh, even we're uncomfortable by all of this. We definitely think it would've been better if he just asked his question straight out. Nothing like ripping the bandaid off! The journalist nervously confirmed:
Oh, once more with feeling Graeme. LOLz!
After trying to get a justified reason for the question, Tom cut off the reporter with a curt "thank you" and moved on to the next question.
Woof, now that's a painful interview. Nonetheless, the reporter's line of questioning wasn't completely out of left field. In fact, the 37-year-old confirmed back in a 2008 interview of Attitude magazine that he'd explored his sexuality with male partners. He explained:
"As a boy? Of course I have. I'm an actor for f—k's sake. I'm an artist. I've played with everything and everyone."
LOVES it! Nonetheless, Tom married Charlotte Riley back in 2014 and the duo are expecting their first child together.
We find it odd that this particular set of questions set Tom over the edge since he's been relatively open about his sexuality in the past. Perhaps, he felt this story was simply old news?
Hmm, who knows.
