It's been 20 years since Eazy-E passed away from AIDS, but with the recent success of Straight Outta Compton – which told the tale of E and all the other artists making up NWA — people are once again wondering just how the icon contracted the deadly disease in the first place.
And now, one rapper claims to know the truth about the late legend's untimely end. Frost, whose real name is Arturo Molina, Jr. opened up about the tragedy in an upcoming documentary called For the Record: The Story of Latinos in Hip Hop.
He says a man who — in West Coast rap — goes by "the devil" made sure Eazy's acupuncture needles contained the virus, saying:
"I'm-a tell you what happened with Eazy getting AIDS and I believe this to this day. I don't care if you guys got it on film. You can tell the world. They gave him tainted needles with acupuncture. Needles that tainted him, they gave it to him."
That's certainly one way to re-open a conspiracy theory. Frost was too anxious to reveal the suspect's actual name, but the late hitmaker was known to have an ongoing feud with Suge Knight.
In fact, after Straight Outta Compton was released, an old Jimmy Kimmel clip of an interview with the Death Row Records CEO made the internet rounds, showing the producer saying:
"If you shoot somebody, you go to jail forever. You don't want to go to jail forever. They have a new thing out. They have this stuff they called… they get blood from somebody with AIDS and they shoot you with it. That's [a] slow death. The Eazy-E thing, you know what I mean?"
That struck some people as suspicious, even though Eazy's daughter doesn't believe Suge had her father killed.
But Frost remembered that the former NWA member had injured himself riding a four-wheeler, and sought out acupuncture treatment for the pain.
He is adamant that "the devil" messed with the needles, ultimately causing him to contract the virus, saying:
"If you know the history of Rap, West Coast Rap, you know who I'm saying. I was told even in my last conversation from Eazy not to even talk to that man. Not only that, but I think that they really had a stronghold of giving him tainted needles with the AIDS virus in him with acupuncture."
He also added that it seems suspicious that his friend died so quickly after being diagnosed:
"Have you even heard of somebody dying in two weeks of AIDS? It's unheard of."
