The shooting has rocked the school, with spokesperson Eva Pickens confirming that police have not yet caught the suspect, and there are at least two victims:
"Texas Southern University has announced the campus is on lockdown following a shooting incident just moments ago. Early reports indicate two shot - conditions not known right now. The assailant is still at large. All staff are asked to remain in offices - students to remain in classrooms until further notice."
For Texas Southern students, this now marks the third such campus-related shooting in the last six weeks.
Our thoughts are with all those affected today as law enforcement can hopefully track down the shooter with no other injuries or incidents.
The pitcher and two other unidentified people were pronounced dead early Sunday after a Coast Guard patrol found a 33-foot boat overturned on a jetty about 3:30 a.m. local Miami time, according to Coast Guard Chief Nyxolyno Cangemi.
The accident is currently being investigated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The Marlins, who were set to play the Atlanta Braves today, have canceled their game in light of the tragedy surrounding Fernandez (pictured above, left, laughing with an umpire during a game last week).
