Oprah Winfrey had such a great experience with Weight Watchers… she decided to buy the company!
Well, 10 percent of it, that is. The media mogul paid $43.2 million for her stake — and following the announcement of the five-year agreement, the stock jumped more than 77 percent on Monday morning.
Wow! We'd say we're surprised, but… Oprah.
The weight loss management company said that in addition to joining the board, the 61-year-old billionaire will make appearances and has given Weight Watchers permission to use her name and likeness.
As a shareholder, the OWN head will assist in development and execution of the company's programs and initiatives.
Weight Watchers President and CEO Jim Chambers shared:
"We are expanding our purpose from focusing on weight loss alone to more broadly helping people lead a healthier, happier life."
Well, we think Miz Winfrey is just the person to get the job done.
Not to mention, the TV icon has already profited more than $50 million just this morning!
