However, Rob threw in his two cents anyway, saying:

He aimed to impress his teacher, but instead he impressed the world!
President Barack Obama hosted Astronomy Night at the White House on Monday night to celebrate space exploration!
Attendees included scientists, teachers, and astronauts — and special guest Ahmed Mohamed, the young engineering wiz whose controversial clock invention gained him nationwide attention!
Back in September, the 14-year-old Muslim student brought in a homemade clock to impress his engineering teacher, but another teacher got him arrested because she thought it was a bomb!
Mohamed gained national support from the likes of Hillary Clinton and POTUS himself, and on Monday night got to chat with Obama in person! He said of their meeting:
"We talked about Mars and 2030 and I talked to him about the generator that I'm making and how it could help people on Mars."
Obama also spoke about the importance of encouraging youthful scientific curiosity like Mohamed's, saying it we should help to inspire "glimmers of curiosity and possibility, not suppress them, not squelch them."
Mohamed said he learned "a ton" from this experience, explaining:
"I learned that people would always be there to support you when there's injustice… I'm trying to get a message of how you shouldn't judge a person by what they look like. You should always judge a person by their heart."
We're so happy that this bright student is being celebrated for his ingenuity and scientific curiosity, instead of being discouraged because of his appearance!
Keep doing you and keep doing science, Ahmed!
