We knew it wouldn't be long before Simon Cowell apologized for that awkward joke he made about Zayn Malik… right in front of One Direction!
ICYMI: Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan were presenting the music mogul with an award at the Music Industry Trusts event, when he made a very interesting comment about the boy band's former member!

The 56-year-old had said:
"Just my luck I get the award I've been wanting all my life and I'm completely hammered. Guys, who misses Zayn?"
Well, the American Idol alum found out very quickly that, actually, a LOT of people miss Zayn.
Sure, the 22-year-old walked out on the guy group earlier this year to pursue a solo career. But, since Perrie Edwards' former fiancé used to be one-fifth of 1D, there are still plenty of Directioners who love him regardless of his relationship with the other boys.
That means it was only a matter of time before the UK native backtracked on his controversial quip. Hey, he said he was drunk, after all!
The TV personality recently went on Fresh 102.7 in New York to tell radio hosts Trey and Ghia that he didn't mean any harm by what he said, confessing:
"I just kind of thought when I was standing on stage with them, that they were back to being five, and I saw myself [being a part of] One Direction for a moment. That's when I made that quip, ‘Who Needs Zayn?' which of course backfired hugely. So I apologize to any Zayn fans out there – it was meant as a joke."
Well, that seems simple enough! But then again, aren't drunken words just sober thoughts? What do U think, Perezcious readers?
