Gunnar Hansen, best known for portraying Leatherface, the classic and terrifying horror villain in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film, died on Saturday evening at his home in Maine.
He was 68 years old.
Hansen, who had a long career in film and television in various on-camera and production roles, was always infamous for how he portrayed the scary, gruesome Leatherface in a movie that wound up being remade six times since its original run in 1974.
Sad news about the passing of Gunnar Hansen. Interviewed him a few times and found him - as so many horror icons - to be utterly charming.

Leatherface, in the original Chain Saw Massacre, is both scariest & most sympathetic horror villain. Masterfully played by Gunnar Hansen.
