Despite a slight ratings drop from Season Five to Season Six, The Walking Dead is still the highest rated show on television.
So it comes as no surprise that AMC continues to invest in all things zombie.

First they created Talking Dead to get an extra hour out of the show each Sunday, then they switched things up with El Lay spin-off Fear the Walking Dead, and now they're adding yet another zombified original program to their lineup.
Graphic artist Arthur Suydam announced Sunday that the cable network had greenlit Empire of the Dead from horror legend George Romero!
EofD is the Night of the Living dead director's own take on a comic book series and it's actually published by Marvel, so you know it's going to be must-see TV.

What's interesting about this news is that George was actually asked to be a part of TWD early on but declined because he only likes to tell his own stories… well now he's got his chance!
There's no word yet on a timeline for the new series, but since it's already been in development, we have a feeling we should be seeing Empire of the Dead sooner than later.
