This is so scary!
Meri Brown, one of the stars of TLC's hit show Sister Wives, finally reveal on Sunday night's season finale episode more about how she was catfished by a woman pretending to be a man.
Brown, who was caught in an online relationship with the nefarious woman for some time, reveals more about exactly how and why it went down, and why she was so hesitant to get her family involved.
Struggling with loneliness, the 44-year-old threw herself into online communication, and eventually found somebody she could relate to:
"I was talking to different people on social media and making friends and I got into this situation talking to one person who really made me trust him. He was just saying all the right things, being very kind and very compassionate and understanding and I trusted him. I felt this release. It just felt really good to laugh."
Things quickly got intense between the two of them as they began talking on the phone, and the man started expressing his love for the reality TV star.
But the good times wouldn't last, and warnings went up fairly quickly. Meri revealed:
"He would never meet with me, and then there were these other things that kind of started making me wonder what was going on, there were little cracks in the story. There were times early on that I was talking to him that I knew he was just feeding me a line of bullsh*t, and I knew this within the first week of talking to him and I chose to ignore it because I enjoyed just talking to somebody. Bastard."
The more Meri pried into the man's background, though, the angrier and more threatening the man became:
"When I would ask him about it he would flip out. He would be almost verbally abusive with me."
The man went so far as to hint to Brown that he was "technologically savvy," and could "do damage" to her and her family. Yikes!!!
"I thought I was talking to a man online and on the phone. It wasn't a man. It was a woman who had been watching me online and I feel like I have been targeted, I feel like my family's been targeted."
In this week's episode, Brown struggles to tell this story to her family, fearful of their response to a scary situation.
The momma discussed her motivations for finally bringing it up to the group, as difficult as it may have been:
"My family was very concerned for our safety and angry that we had been targeted. They were relieved once I told them what was really going on and saddened that I had been so afraid of involving them that I didn't go to them sooner."
Unfortunately, we don't get so see exactly how that conversation finished up on the episode — guess we'll have to wait until next week's tell-all to learn even more about the catfishing!
Sister Wives airs at 9 p.m. EST on TLC!
