Rihanna may be stringing us along with unfulfilled promises of new music at this point… but it seems as though her marketing strategy is paying off for her.
Despite not releasing an album in 2015, RiRi still managed to end the year as Spotify's most played female artist!
The streaming service released its end of the year chart-toppers on Tuesday, and the BBHMM singer was joined by The Weeknd and Major Lazer who had the most played album and song thanks to Beauty Behind the Madness and Lean On, respectively.

While Rihanna pulled in more than 1 billion streams worldwide, believe it or not the No. 1 artist of the year almost doubled that!
So who will be the Anti songstress' major competition going in to 2016??
Why, Drake, of course!
The If You're Reading This It's Too Late and What a Time to Be Alive rapper was listened to over 1.8 billion times this year… making him by far the most successful artist.

It probably helped Rihanna's numbers that Taylor Swift and Adele both kept their new music away from Spotify, but still, it's a pretty huge honor.
