Well that was better than expected!
When we first heard the announcement that there was going to be an Independence Day 2, we were both excited and skeptical.
Sure we still had our doubts, but after 20th Century Fox dropped the trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence yesterday (above), things seem A LOT more hopeful!
Though Smith doesn't show up in the trailer at all, Usher will be playing his son who appeared in the first movie.
Along with the trailer though, the studio released a website — warof1996.com –that gives a timeline of events since the first film and one of the events on April 27, 2007 explains how Will's character apparently died saying:
"World Mourns Col. Hiller
While test piloting the ESD's first alien hybrid fighter, an unknown malfunction causes the untimely death of Col. Hiller. Hiller's valor in the War of '96 made him a beloved global icon whose selfless assault against the alien mothership lead directly to the enemy's defeat. He is survived by his wife Jasmine and his son Dylan."
Well we guess if Smith has to go, being mourned by the world is pretty appropriate for Big Willie. LOLz!
Are you excited for the sequel?
