Whether it's her irreverent stand-up or raunchy writing, Amy Schumer can find the humor in just about everything.

But the comedienne had a serious discussion about her father's health for Barbara Walters' upcoming 10 Most Fascinating People special.

In the interview, the Trainwreck star opened up about father Gordon Schumer's ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis, telling the veteran reporter:

"He's not good. Some days he's really good and he's with it and we're joking around. And some days I go to visit my dad, and it's so painful. I can't believe it."

Schumer was just 12 years old when her father was diagnosed with the disease, which led her to giving her family the only medicine she could offer: laughter.

She continued:

"He was in physical pain. That's when I kind of took the lead and took care of everybody in my family. I would keep them — I would keep everybody laughing. I'm the one who ties it all together."

The writer had previously revealed how a lot of Gordon is reflected in her onscreen dad in Trainwreck (played by Colin Quinn), who also has MS in the film.

We aren't surprised that Schumer's humor comes from trying to keep up her family's spirits during the dark times, because that's what makes her such an AH-Mazing comedian!
