The Park Avenue Health Care and Wellness Center employee received the winning ticket from her boss Shlomo Rechnitz (pictured above), a health care entrepreneur and philanthropist.
The day before the numbers were drawn, the CEO bought nearly 18,000 tickets for every employee and resident of his 80 assisted living facilities.
According to Josh Nass, a spokesperson for Rechnitz, every ticket had a message written on it that said :
"We will provide the ticket. You provide the dream."
As to why he did it, Nass said:
"I asked Shlomo what spurred him to do this in the first place… he said, ‘In the new year, everyone wants an extra bit of hope' and he wanted to give everyone that bit of hope."'
The $1.6 billion jackpot will be divided with two other winners — one in Tennessee, one in Florida — who will receive $528.8 million each.
The California Lottery has yet to confirm this validity of this story.
