This is so great to hear!!!
Bette Midler is coming back to Broadway, and so is Hello, Dolly!
The Hocus Pocus star has been confirmed to be playing the lead in the production, which will begin next year!

Producer Scott Rudin confirmed the good news on Tuesday that Midler will be taking on the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in a revival of the classic musical, telling reporters:
"There has not been a new production in 50 years. Partly it was the difficulty of who could play Dolly. It had to be someone who could take it to a different level. Bette is the only one who can. Never has there been something more inevitable than her in this role."
The curtain will go up on March 13, 2017, but the official opening night won't be until April 20 of that year. Rehearsals, though, begin exactly one year from today.
The show will be directed by Jerry Zaks, a four-time Tony Award winner, and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, who also has a Tony to his name.

This will mark Midler's first return to Broadway since her one-woman show I'll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Megners, that proved to be a huge box office hit — though very physically demanding for the actress.
This time around, she'll be getting a lot of help on stage for Hello, Dolly! and we can't wait!!
